PROBLEM:
How do you configure the Hummingbird Connectivity Kerberos client to allow kerberized Xstart, Hummingbird FTP or HostExplorer VT sessions?
SOLUTION:
The following information must be gathered before you can begin to configure Connectivity Kerberos:
- A valid Kerberos username/password.
- The hostname/IP of the KDC.
- The domain name for the Kerberos server.
- The actual name of the Kerberos Realm.
Once all of the above information is known, you can follow these steps:
- Run Hummingbird Connectivity Kerberos.
- Click on OPTIONS, then KERBEROS PROPERTIES.
- Click on the REALM / SERVER MAPPING tab.
- Click the INSERT button on the KERBEROS REALM section, enter the actual Kerberos realm in UPPERCASE LETTERS and click OK.
- With the new realm highlighted, click the INSERT button for the SERVERS HOSTING A KDC section, and enter the hostname/ip of the KDC and click OK.
- Click the DNS / REALM MAPPING tab, remove any entries that exist there, and then click INSERT.
- On the "DOMAIN or HOST" field, enter your kerberos domain name (example: hcl.com).
- On the "KERBEROS REALM" field, enter your kerberos realm in UPPER CASE letters and click OK (example: MYREALM.COM).
- Click APPLY and then OK.
You are now successfully setup to use Kerberos authentication via Xstart, HostExplorer VT sessions or Hummingbird FTP.
NOTE: This FAQ presumes that all of your Kerberos authentication/KDC/realm/domain names are correct.
