Distributing an updated hostex.ini file to Terminal Server users.

LAST MODIFIED DATE: September 20, 2006

VERSION: This applies to HostExplorer version 2006

PROBLEM:

You want to distribute an updated hostex.ini file to the users of your Terminal Server machine. You can distribute it to new users but it won’t update the file for existing users.

SOLUTION:

In order to distribute an updated hostex.ini file to the users of your Terminal Server machine, you need to do the following:

  1. Edit the hostex.ini file in C:\Program Files\Hummingbird\Connectivity\11.00\Default User\HostExplorer.
  2. Run the regedit and go to the HKLM\Software\Hummingbird\Connectivity\11.00\Default User key.
  3. Right click on the Default User and click on New String Value, name it Default Install Parameters.
  4. Right click on the Default Install Parameters and click on modify, under the Value Data type it should read REINSTALLMode=d.
  5. Open a command prompt and run the command HumSettings UPDATELASTMODIFIED=HostExMP.
  6. Then run HumSettings REFRESH=ALL.
The new file should now be distributed to all users of the machine.
