LAST MODIFIED DATE: May 24, 2004
VERSION: This applies to Exceed version 9.0
PROBLEM:
How to setup Exceed to use a hot key to switch between the primary and secondary keyboard?
SOLUTION:
Here are the steps required:
- Start Xconfig. In this example, Xconfig is set to "Classic View"
- Select Keyboard Input.
- Click the "Edit" button for the Primary keyboard.
- From the file menu select "Edit".
- Select Macro and press Add.
- In the Macro Binding pop up, click on Browse.
- Select Add in Macro Selector.
- Put in the name and the description of the Macro Properties.
- Click on Insert button.
- Click OK in the Insert Action Item.
- Select Command under Action Type.
- Change the Command Type to Tool Commands.
- Select Switch Keyboard.
- Click OK and OK again.
- Now you are able to map this Macro to anything under the Bind Key.
For example:
Select Bind Key F1 and Modifier Shift and click OK. Close the Macro window. Save the Primary keyboard file. Repeat the same procedures for Alternate keyboard. In the end, bind the Macro to Shift F2. In this case, pressing Shift F1 will get Alternative keyboard and pressing Shift F2 will get Primary keyboard.
