VERSION: This applies to Exceed version 7.0+
PROBLEM:
By default the following option is enabled in Windows Explorer when you right click on a folder and select Properties > General > Advanced:
"For fast searching, allow Indexing service to index this folder"
When running certain backup software for example, Legato, it will unset this archive bit on some folders. When this occurs, if a user opens Xstart and goes to File > Open, any saved ".xs" files can not be viewed, even though they do exist in the \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Hummingbird\Connectivity\X.XX\Exceed folder.
This problem only happens on Windows 2000 on NTFS.
SOLUTION:
This is fixed in hclwutil.dll V.7.1.0.1 or higher.
Note: hclwutil.dll V.7.1.0.1 can be obtained from Hummingbird Technical Support or by logging in to WebSupport and clicking on the "Patches" link.
The following can be performed as a work around:
- Open Windows Explorer (Start>Programs>Accessories>Windows Explorer)
- Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Hummingbird
- Navigate to Connectivity\X.xx\Exceed
- Select all files and click the Right Mouse Button and select Properties
- On the General Tab, click Advanced
- Enable both boxes in the Archive and Index attributes box.
