How to use Secure Shell as a start method in Xstart?

LAST MODIFIED DATE: January 16, 2004

VERSION: This applies to Exceed version 9.0

SOLUTION:

Run Xstart, in the Start Method section, select "Secure Shell...". You will then need to select the Browse button under the "Secure Shell Profile" field. If no tunnels are specified, select the bottom left button to "Add New Tunnel".

When creating the tunnel, you will need to specify a tunnel name, host name and user name. Once the tunnel has been created, highlight it, and select "Open". You should then see the full path to the profile (.CSP) in the "Secure Shell Profile" field. Finally, complete the rest of the Xstart fields (Host Type, Command,...).

Note: If you apply Xstart.exe 9.0.0.1, selecting "Secure Shell..." as a Start Method will point to a read-only default .CSP profile. You will then be able to specify the required fields in Xstart manually such as User ID, Host and Password. This provides the same functionality used in Hummingbird Connectivity Security Pack v7.1.
