VERSION: This applies to Exceed version 8.0
PROBLEM
How can the user hide the Exceed icon from the Windows Taskbar and place the Exceed icon in the system tray?
SOLUTION:
There are two possible ways of hiding the Exceed icon from the Windows Taskbar.
1. Launch Exceed. Right click on Exceed in the taskbar and select the 'Tools' menu. Then select the 'Hide Main Icon' option. You will see the Exceed icon disappear from the Windows taskbar and be placed in the system tray.
2. You can edit the file called 'exceed.ini' and add a flag in the 'Options' section, as follows:
[Options]:
InTrayIcon=1
The 'exceed.ini' file is located in the user's files directory. The default locations are as follows:
On Windows NT4.0/98/ME
C:\<Windows>\Profiles\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Hummingbird\Connectivity\version\
On Windows 2000/XP
C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Hummingbird\Connectivity\version\
The above flag will cause the Exceed icon to be placed in the system tray and not in the Windows taskbar.
