"Error 1327 Invalid drive c:\" when installing Exceed v7.x/8.0 on a Microsoft Windows Terminal Server.

LAST MODIFIED DATE: February 27, 2003

VERSION: This applies to Exceed version 7.x/8.0

PROBLEM:

The User has Microsoft Terminal Server which uses T: as a system drive and U: as a data drive.

The message "error 1327 Invalid drive c:\" appears after the following:

  • Install Exceed on Micrsoft Terminal Server by running msetup.exe
  • Select "Administrative Installation on Termal Server"
  • Select drive T: as the target for the Administrative Copy Image

SOLUTION:

Install Exceed on Terminal Server using the following command: (where g: is the CD ROM drive from which Exceed is being installed)

msiexec /a "g:\Exceed\Hummingbird Exceed.msi" TRANSFORMS="g:\Exceed\1033.mst;g:\Exceed\ExceedTSE.mst" ROOTDRIVE=T:

This will create the Admin Copy folder on the T drive and completes the First Stage of installing Exceed on Terminal Server.

Please refer to Exceed manual to continue Stage Two of installation.
