How to add a Font Server to a Terminal Server install

LAST MODIFIED DATE: February 12, 2003

VERSION: This applies to Exceed version V8.0

DISCUSSION:

How do I add a Font Server to my Terminal Server installation, so that the users automatically get it?

RESOLUTION:

The following are the instructions on how to add a font server to a Terminal Server installation of Exceed

  • Add the font server in Xconfig Font Management in an existing installation of Exceed or in the Administrator account on the Terminal Server once Exceed has been installed
  • Once you have added the Font Server copy the lfp.xdb file in the C:\Document and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Hummingbird\Connectivity\8.00\Exceed directory and replace the lfp.xdb file in the Admin copy directory with it
  • Run usrmanager.exe in the %windir%\system32\Hummingbird\Connectivity directory
  • Click on Properties of the Hummingbird Exceed product
  • Click on the Overrides tab.
  • Enter Exceed.Xserver.KeepLfpXdb as the "Name" field
  • In the "Set Value" field type 1
  • Click OK
You will want to set this override to prevent install from modifying the lfp.xdb file during install.

Remember to increase the product level if any users have already logged into the Terminal Server and have Exceed installed.
