Resuming a session using KDE on a fairly slow connection makes the application window appears frozen and unusable.

LAST MODIFIED DATE: July 21, 2008

VERSION: This applies to Exceed onDemand version 6.0 and higher

PROBLEM

You connect to AIX using Exceed onDemand server and you perform an XDMCP connection to a remote Linux host using KDE (version 3.3), you are connecting remotely via VPN. When you resume, The resumed window is unusable (Exceed onDemand screen is frozen). This problem does not occur with AIX CDE.

SOLUTION

In order to resolve this issue, you need to change the KDE timeout values in KDE Control Center, Internet & Network, Connection Preferences:

Socket read: 300 sec
Proxy connect: 300 sec
Server connect: 300 sec
Server response: 600 sec

The above values are only examples and would be dependent on the network connection.
