VERSION: This applies to Exceed onDemand version 6.0
DISCUSSION:
Yes, it is possible to create a datastore with a non-root account, in order to do that, you need to apply Exceed onDemand Patch 6.0.5 or later and then do the following:
- From the Exceed onDemand server nodes, mount an NFS exported file system (which will be used as a datastore) with a non-root user account.
- Create the following entry in conf/admin/eod.cfg under the [CLUSTER_MANAGER] section on all nodes;
EoDCMRunAsGid=<gid of user account, which was used when mounting the NFS file system in the step #1>
Please note the value should be gid (number), not group name. - Restart Exceed onDemand servers (CM) from all nodes, and create data store with the Exceed onDemand Server Manager.
Note:
Exceed onDemand patch 6.0.5 or higher can be obtained by logging into WebSupport or when you contact Hummingbird Customer Support
