When the blinking layer feature is enabled visual problems occur when using Exceed onDemand 6.0 Windows Clients with Cadence Virtuoso 6.x or higher.

LAST MODIFIED DATE: May 18, 2007

VERSION: This applies to Exceed onDemand version 6.0

DISCUSSION:

In order to resolve those visual issues, you need to set your Windows workstation video driver to 24-bit or higher.

When the blinking feature is enabled, you could see problems like the entire circuit blinking instead of the area where there is a problem with the design.

Also you could see artifacts on the screen when the circuit blinks.

Most likely, the Windows workstation display is set to 16 bit color.

Cadence 6.x and higher supports 24 bit color, therefore the Cadence Virtuoso application is unable to match the Exceed onDemand server visual which causes strange behavior with Cadence Virtuoso.

Setting the Windows workstation display to 24 bit color or higher resolves the problem.
