How do you password protect Xconfig?

LAST MODIFIED DATE: July 21, 2008

VERSION: This applies to Exceed version 2008

PROBLEM:

In an All User installation, is there a way to lock Xconfig so that users do not make changes?

SOLUTION:

In order to password protect Xconfig you need to do the following:

  1. Run Xconfig.
  2. From the Menu, click on Actions, Change My Password.
  3. Since it will be the first time setting the password, leave 'Old Password' field blank.
  4. Enter the password in the 'New Password' and 'Confirm Password' fields.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Close Xconfig.

The next time you run Xconfig, you will be prompted for the password.
