Some X-applications do not display unless tracing has been enabled in Exceed.

LAST MODIFIED DATE: October 19, 2005

VERSION: This applies to Exceed version 10.0+

PROBLEM:

Enabling the Slow trace option in Xconfig allows for some x-applications to display with Exceed. When tracing is enabled, the Exceed server is essentially slowed down in recording all data.

How can the user display the x-application without enabling tracing?

SOLUTION:

In Exceed version 10 and higher an Xconfig setting has been implemented.

  1. Launch Xconfig
  2. Select Other Server Settings
  3. Select the Performance tab
  4. Enable "Use Disable Request Batching Flag".

Enabling this check box instructs Exceed to processes similar requests independently and thus it slows down the Exceed server without having the trace option enabled.

In Exceed versions 9.0 and 8.0 the option is located in the same place as Exceed version 10.0, but the option is called "Disable Request Batching".

In even earlier versions of Exceed you could slow down the Exceed server by adding a flag called "DisablePeekRequest" to the win.ini file under the [Exceed] section as follows:
DisablePeekRequest = 1
