How to limit the dynamic display pool for Exceed on Windows Terminal Server?

LAST MODIFIED DATE: January 12, 2005

VERSION: This applies to Exceed version 10.0

PROBLEM:

How can the Administrator who installs Exceed on the Windows Terminal Server set the size of the dynamic display pool?

SOLUTION:

The Administrator needs to edit the file called Display Manager.ini.

This file contains settings for the "Hummingbird Exceed Display Controller Service". This service manages the allocation of display number resources on systems with Terminal Services enabled. Any changes to this file require the Hummingbird Exceed Display Controller Service to be re-started.

The "Display Manager.ini" file is located in the following directory:
<Drive>:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Hummingbird\Connectivity\10\Global\Exceed\

In order to limit the pool of dynamic displays available to Exceed on Windows Terminal server the following modifications are required:

Change the values for:

Display Range High
and
Max Dynamic Numbers

By default these values are 9999

The "Display Range High" flag sets the highest display number to be assigned.
The "Max Dynamic Numbers" flag sets the size of the dynamic display number pool.

Please remember to re-start the Hummingbird Exceed Display Controller Service for changes made to the "Display Manager.ini" file to take effect.
