Configure Exceed to use a custom keyboard file on Terminal Server
DISCUSSION:
Configure Exceed to use a custom keyboard mapping on Terminal Server (Win2K).

SOLUTION

  1. login as administrator on terminal server

  2. perform Exceed admin copy, eg. c:\admin71\

  3. run setup.exe from c:\admin71

  4. create the new keyboard file using xconfig, call the new keyboard profile "test.kbf"

  5. create two new directories under c:\admin71
    c:\admin71\exceed
    and
    c:\admin71\exceed\exceed
put in the new keyboard profile under the c:\admin71\exceed\exceed

  6. create Exceed7_Users group and put administrator and other users in.

  7. startup "Usrmanager.exe" in system32\hummingbird\connectivity and add two overrides in it,

    CustomUserDirectoryList with value exceed

    and

    Exceed.Xserver.KeyboardType with value test.kbf

  8. log off as administrator

  9. log back in as administrator

  10. startup xconfig, the default keyboard is test.kbf
