DISCUSSION:
When attempting to apply a Hostexplorer patch to an Administrative Install on a Windows Terminal Server, the customer gets the following errors:
Error 1328. Error applying patch to file c:\config.msi\pt239c.tmp...
Error 1308. Source file not found: c:\program files\hummingbird\connectivity\7.00\hostexplorer\hemcnv32.nls.eng
RESOLUTION:
In order to apply the Hostexplorer patch or any official patch, the following steps must be performed:
- Rename the current c:\admin directory that was originally patched using the Exceed v7.0 TSE patch to c:\admin.tse
- Build a new or "clean" c:\admin Administrative Exceed 7.0 image from the Exceed 7.0 installation CD.
- Replace the "Hummingbird Exceed.msi" file in the c:\admin directory with the "Hummingbird Exceed.msi" from the c:\admin.tse directory
Copy all usr*.* file(s) in the c:\admin.tse\system32\hummingbird\connectivity directory to the c:\admin\system32\hummingbird\connectivity directory
Replace the hostex directory in c:\admin\application data\hummingbird\connectivity\7.00\ with the hostex directory from the c:\admin.tse\application data\hummingbird\connectivity\7.00\ directory
- Apply the Hostexplorer patch
In the solution above, Step 3 allows us to get around this by combining the original(unpatched) administrative image files with the TSE patched "Hummingbird Exceed.msi", the TSE patched "Hostex" directory and the usr*.* files (ie. usrsetup.exe).
