Eddie Adolfsson,
Here is a copy of the output from HCLNFSD that you sent me:
hclnfsd: [xdr_printers] called
hclnfsd: [xdr_printers] returns Success
hclnfsd: [create_spool] called with Authorize and return UID and GIDs
hclnfsd: [xdr_auth_request] called
hclnfsd: Link to 192.168.xxx.22 (fridge1)
hclnfsd: Request type : 4 (disk request)
hclnfsd: Requested Device : /home/winse
hclnfsd: Username : winserv
hclnfsd: [xdr_auth_request] returns Success
hclnfsd: [authorize] getpwnam failed
hclnfsd: [create_spool] called with Authorize and return UID and GIDs
(Please draw your attention to the second last line of the output -
getpwnam failed) What this error message is saying is that the Username
passed to hclnfsd from the PC running NFS Maestro Client called "winserv"
was not found in the passwd file (or whatever authentication mechanism you
are using in nsswitch.conf). This is most likely because you mentioned that
you are browsing through "My Network Places" -> "Entire Network" -> "
Maestro NFS Network". If you link the drive this way, you must insure that
you have registered your username and password to this UNIX NFS Server in
the NFS Network Access Utility (or your Windows Username and Password are
identical to your UNIX NFS Server's Username & Password).
I am assuming that winserv is your Username to the Windows 2000 machine
where NFS Maestro is installed.
NFS Maestro will first attempt to use your Windows Credentials if no
registered or manually entered usernames are supplied.
Here I am connecting to one of my local UNIX Servers, and used an "invalid"
username and password:
hclnfsd: [init_locks] called
hclnfsd: [main] Daemon will not accept print requests.
hclnfsd: [get_printers] called
hclnfsd: [get_groups] called
hclnfsd: [create_spool] called with Authorize and return UID and GIDs
hclnfsd: [xdr_auth_request] called
hclnfsd: Link to 192.168.1.1 (XXXX)
hclnfsd: Request type : 4 (disk request)
hclnfsd: Requested Device : /export/hom
hclnfsd: Username : invalid
hclnfsd: [xdr_auth_request] returns Success
hclnfsd: [authorize] getpwnam failed <-- THIS IS WERE THE USER
"INVALID" FAILS
hclnfsd: [create_spool] called with Authorize and return UID and GIDs
hclnfsd: [xdr_auth_request] called
hclnfsd: Link to 192.168.1.1 (XXXX)
hclnfsd: Request type : 4 (disk request)
hclnfsd: Requested Device : /export/hom
hclnfsd: Username : invalid
hclnfsd: [xdr_auth_request] returns Success
hclnfsd: [authorize] getpwnam failed <-- THIS IS WHERE MY SECOND
ATTEMPT AS USER "INVALID" FAILS AGAIN
