Some versions of Linux, like Red Hat allow the user (during
installation) to install MAX/MIN/NONE firewall support.
This maybe something you need to check/verify on your linux server.
Try the option "firewall -config" to see if this is the reason by
temporarily disabling the firewall option.

You might also want to view the "rpcinfo -p" to view the running
services on your linux machine.
Verify that all the correct NFS Related services are running:

EXAMPLE

# rpcinfo -p
   program vers proto port
    100000 2 tcp 111 portmapper
    100000 2 udp 111 portmapper
    100005 1 udp 1025 mountd
    100005 1 tcp 1026 mountd
    100005 2 udp 1025 mountd
    100005 2 tcp 1026 mountd
    100005 3 udp 1025 mountd
    100005 3 tcp 1026 mountd
    100003 2 udp 2049 nfs
    100003 3 udp 2049 nfs
    100021 1 udp 1026 nlockmgr
    100021 3 udp 1026 nlockmgr
    100021 4 udp 1026 nlockmgr
 788585389 1 udp 789

These are the basic services; the last one (788585289) is
actually HCLNFSD (there is no name listed under program name)
