We are experiencing some strange behaviour with the NFS Maestro Client software
under Windows 2000, and I wondered if anyone else had come across this before I
report it as a problem to Hummingbird. We are running Maestro 7.0 (latest
update 7.0.0.2) and initially everything worked fine. We have configured the
users on Win 2000 so that it connects H: to their Unix home directory on login.
Last week this started failing, with a message about trying to remember a drive
(H:) which was already remembered. If I log in with the administrator account,
and try a manual mount, using "nfs link h: \\unixserver\directory unixuser"
then it comes back with a message that H: is already linked. But it isn't. And
if I try "nfs unlink h:" is says it is not linked. Using any letter other than
H: is fine. This is affecting all our Win 2000 machines and all users. We also
tried uninstalling Maestro, then reinstalling 7.0 off the CD and downloading
the 7.0.0.2 update from the web. At first this seemed to work. Logging in as a
normal user, H: was mounted ok. Logging out and logging in again also worked.
Logging in as a different user worked. Then after about the 4th or 5th login
the error came back, and now we get it all the time.
Two other points
1) We know it's related to Maestro as we can run
"net use h: \\windowsserver\directory" and it works ok.
2) If we change the drive letter in the user account to K: say, then the same
error occurs for K:, so now neither H: nor K: work, but any other drive letter
is ok.
